SUMMARY

This is the third level in a group of three progressively higher administrative/managerial jobs.

This position is a highly responsible managerial position which independently performs administrative functions by directing the planning, organizing and executing the day to day operations of the unit
or department.

Typically reports to Director or Dean.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Managing day to day operations and serves as a resource for the Director or Dean regarding requirements and trends in unit or department.

Supervises, trains, and evaluates assigned staff.

Monitors work in progress and upon completion.

Iimplements corrective action as required.

Oversees and participates in planning, developing and administering departmental budget.

Conducts and assists with the development of long- and short-range goals.

Develops objectives and activities based on departmental goals.

Rrepresents the college or department and serves on various department and university committees.

May act in place of the Dean or Director in that person's absence.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Business or related field and eight years management experience including six years of supervisory experience;

OR twelve (12) years related management experience;

OR equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of principles and practices pertaining to the assigned college or department.

Knowledge of management and supervisory principles and practices.

Knowledge of budget management methods and techniques.

Knowledge of strategic planning principles and practices.

Skill in program design and development.

Skill in effectively managing, supervising and evaluating assigned staff.
