Building Services Superintendent Duties
SUMMARY
Performs administrative and managerial work in directing the
custodial cleaning, care and minor maintenance of campus
buildings, facilities and residence halls.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise and provide direction and guidance to Building
Services Supervisors and other related positions.
This may include interviewing, hiring, training, planning,
assigning, supervising, coordinating and inspecting their work.
Inspects assigned work areas to assure satisfactory custodial
work.
Develop workload equity studies for each residence hall.
Develop and implement custodial cleaning standards based on
industry standards.
Develop and implement training procedures to ensure adherence to
established cleaning standards.
Prepares and monitors the departmental budget for custodial
related accounts.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Five years of custodial experience, including 2 years in a
supervisory capacity, or a Bachelor's degree in Business
Administration or related field and 2 years of supervisory
custodial experience or any equivalent combination of
experience, training and/or education.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Thorough knowledge of materials, cleaning equipment, products,
techniques and standards.
Thorough knowledge of the operation and care of equipment,
tools, and supplies common to the care of large buildings and
facilities.
Skill in supervising others.
Ability to establish and maintain communication and effective
working relationships with university employees and the general
public.
Knowledge in training, coordinating and supervising work
