Assistant Golf Course Manager Duties
SUMMARY
This is supervisory work assisting in the management of all
phases of operation for a university golf course.
An employee allocated to this class assists in the supervision
of personnel assigned to work in the pro shop, on the driving
range, and the golf course. Supervision may be exercised over
skilled, semiskilled, and unskilled workers engaged in
facilities repair and maintenance and the control of plant
diseases and plant and animal pests. This position will also
coordinate educational classes and golf tournaments and
supervise periodic inventories. Duties are performed under the
general direction of an administrative superior and reviewed by
observation of results and the reaction and comments of clients.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Administers the rules and regulations established for the
operation of the university golf course.
Assists in supervising the maintenance, care, repair, and
operation of the golf course grounds, facilities, and equipment.
Assists in supervising the control of fungi and plant, animal,
and insect pests.
Assists in the recruitment and training of golf course
personnel.
Assists in the supervision of skilled, semiskilled, and
unskilled employees.
Assists in the preparation and administration of the annual
budget.
Supervises the operation of the driving range facility.
Supervises periodic inventories.
Participates in the propagation of turf grasses and plants.
Performs related work as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from an accredited college or university with course
work in recreation, business management, turf management or
agronomy; and considerable experience in the care and
maintenance of golf courses, including some supervisory
experience; or any equivalent combination of training and
experience.
Possession of State of Georgia Pesticide Applicator's License.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Thorough knowledge of the methods used in the care and
maintenance of golf courses.
Considerable knowledge of the care and maintenance of grass
greens.
Considerable knowledge of the uses and operating methods of
equipment and tools used in golf course maintenance.
Knowledge of turf diseases and the chemicals and methods used to
control them.
Ability to plan, assign, and supervise the work of subordinates
engaged in golf course and pro shop operation maintenance.
Ability to estimate materials, supplies, and equipment needed in
golf course care and maintenance.
Ability to keep records and prepare reports. |
