Resident Engineering Inspector Duties
SUMMARY
Performs administrative and professional work, primarily
involving the inspection of job sites. Work is carried out with
considerable technical independence under general supervision of
administrative superiors.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Inspects job sites with respect to product specifications,
installation, site safety procedures and quality of workmanship.
Prepares daily reports including: daily reports of weather and
job conditions; personnel on site and duties performed; testing
reports of pressure for piping, soil compaction, welding or
concrete placement.
Attends regular meetings with owner, architect, engineer and
contractor.
Escorts fire marshall to buildings to receive a certificate of
occupancy.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from a standard high school or vocational school and
two years of course work in a technical school, college, or
university in building construction and design; and 2 years of
related experience; or any equivalent combination of training
and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Thorough knowledge of building construction practices, methods,
materials, and equipment.
Considerable knowledge of building, electrical, and plumbing
codes.
Knowledge of architectural principles and design.
Ability to read and interpret blue prints, sketches, plans, and
specifications.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working
relationships with contractors, university officials and the
general public.
