Computer Graphics Artist Duties
SUMMARY
This is highly technical and creative work in the design and
preparation of computer aided graphics artwork.
An employee allocated to this class of work performs duties
involving the creation and design of complex graphics. Work
requires the operation of computer systems involving the use of
extensive hardware and software which aid in the creation and
revision of artwork at the pixel level. This is highly creative
work with only a small amount being originated within furnished
templates. Work is performed with considerable independence and
the incumbent may serve as a supervisor on projects.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises, coordinates, and participates in design and
preparation of computer aided graphic artwork.
Consults with clients, administrative and professional personnel
on various phases of work to determine format of final product.
Manages computer files of materials which are complete and in
program.
Supervises and participates in the design of layouts; selects
typeface and formats for text materials.
Plans work and production schedules for graphics design and
computer publishing activities.
Creates computer generated artwork, graphic symbols, still media
and animation.
Operates a digital camera and related equipment.
Creates media for use in a variety of formats including transfer
to videotape, slide, overhead, printed page, and other formats.
Operates a variety of hardware and software to design, create,
and alter media images.
Performs related work as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from an accredited college or art school with an
emphasis in art and graphics, supplemented by course work in
computer studies; or any combination of training and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Considerable knowledge of computer assisted graphics and
associated peripherals, digital cameras and related equipment.
Considerable knowledge of artistic and graphics layout
techniques and art as it is related to rendering in a digital
format.
Skill in the creation of media images.
Skill in analyzing and determining the best media for
communication of ideas described.
Ability to assist in the supervision and coordination of duties
assigned to other computer graphics personnel.
Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with clients and to
establish a stable working relationship with clients and
co-workers.
Ability to communicate effective, both orally and writing. |
