Media Specialist Duties
SUMMARY
The Media Specialist assists with the duplication, transfer,
archiving, and distribution of audio/video material. This
position will also be responsible for maintaining inventory,
ordering supplies, basic audio/video equipment set-up, and some
graphic design.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Installs, maintains, and repairs a variety of CATV equipment
including truck amplifiers, line extenders, splitters, taps,
equalizers, modulators, processors, power supplies, satellite
receivers, combiners, actuators, feed horns, and similar
equipment.
Maintains inventory of supply parts and alerts superior when
item needs reordering.
Participates in design and modification of design by CATV
systems.
Conducts test and routine preventive maintenance on all
components and headend equipment.
Responds to problems in the classroom and other locations
concerning reception and operation
of television equipment, receivers, and audiovisual equipment.
Performs related work as assigned and required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School diploma/GED and experience with audio/video
duplication or related media experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Considerable knowledge of the methods, materials, and tools used
in the installation, maintenance, and repair of CATV systems.
Considerable knowledge of hazards and proper safety precautions
of the work.
Considerable knowledge of the operation and uses of associated
CATV test equipment.
Considerable knowledge of satellite equipment and reception of
satellite signals.
Ability to operate audiovisual equipment.
Ability to interpret and read complex schematic and as-built
diagrams.
Ability to maintain system as-built diagrams and maps.
Skill in the use of standard CATV tools, test equipment, and
instruments.
