SUMMARY

Editor with expertise in list building to develop intellectually distinguished and successful lists in several fields as needed by the University Press. Evaluates and acquires manuscripts.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Solicit and evaluate book proposals and manuscripts.

Attend conferences and visit campuses to seek out works-in-progress.

Develop opportunities and plans for trade titles and regional books.

Develop successful networks.

Solicit and evaluate reports from peer reviewers.

Guide authors on revisions and manuscript preparations.

Present books to the University Press's faculty editorial board.

Negotiate contracts.

Identify and solicit funding for books requiring subsidies.

Work collaboratively with other departments to develop effective and timely publishing plans for books acquired.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in related field.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to work independently and imaginatively in seeking out promising book projects.

Tenacity and creativity to see projects through to successful publication.
