SUMMARY

This is professional work in the field of agricultural engineering research.

Work involves research, development, and evaluation of design criteria, methods, processes, instrumentation, and equipment for water management, energy conservation, environmental structure, waste management, and the production, harvesting, handling, and processing of food and fiber.
Methods of fulfilling responsibilities are primarily based upon the judgement of the employee with moderate consultation and assistance from a professional superior. Work is performed under the general direction of the professional superior and is reviewed through periodic conferences and the observation of results.








DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Conducts research on assigned subject in an appropriate area of agricultural engineering.

Participates in literature searches.

Prepares budget estimates and recommendations for equipment and supplies.

Directs the work of research technicians and other staff.

Develops procedures, devices, and facilities to conduct a specific study.

Supervises and assists in construction of devices and facilities.

Supervises the collection of data.

Evaluates data by statistical methods.

Assists in the publication of scientific reports, articles, and bulletins on research results.

Performs related tasks as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in agricultural engineering or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Considerable knowledge of engineering research methods, techniques, and procedures.

Considerable knowledge of engineering principles, physical sciences, and biological sciences as related to engineering.

Ability to implement agricultural engineering research studies.

Ability to direct the work of subordinate personnel.

Ability to prepare reports and publications of research results.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with research scientists, administrative personnel, and fellow employees.
