Research Engineer Duties
SUMMARY
This is advanced professional and managerial work in the field
of biological and agricultural research engineering.
Work involves researching, developing, planning, organizing,
evaluating and directing programs and projects in biological and
agricultural research engineering and computer systems
management.
An employee allocated to this class of work researches,
develops, and evaluates design criteria, methods, processes,
instrumentation, computer programs and systems, and related
equipment for precision farming, geographic information systems,
water management, energy conservation, environmental structures,
and waste management. This work may also include overseeing the
production, harvesting, processing, and handling of food and
fiber. An employee in this position supervises the work of other
subordinate agricultural research engineers and classified
employees.
Methods of fulfilling responsibilities are usually at the
discretion of the employee. Work is performed under the general
direction of an administrative superior and is reviewed through
observation of results.
