SUMMARY

This is responsible administrative and supervisory work in directing physical facilities of an educational services center. Work involves the administration of facilities such as guest residences, food service operations, and gift shops. An employee allocated to this class of work is responsible for the overall supervision of the clerical, custodial, and service personnel. Work is performed in accordance with standard policies and procedures but the employee exercises a considerable amount of independent judgment in carrying out assigned duties and responsibilities. Work is performed under general direction of an administrative superior and is reviewed through observation of results.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To create and supervise a professional, service oriented team that provides the guests and visitors of the Georgia Center with outstanding guest service and is knowledgeable about events within and outside the University as well as the Athens regional area.

Manage labor and other dept. expenses within budgeted guidelines while meeting guest's needs.

Maintain appearance of the Guest Service area and equipment.

Coordinate Security Services for the GA Center.

Hiring, training and on-going supervision of the Guest Services staff.

Providing employees, guests and visitors with updated information about Center events, University information and Athens activities and attractions.

Schedule staff appropriately to handle the needs of center's guests, visitors and staff while remaining within budget parameters.

Provide timely, appropriate feedback to staff on performance, both positive and corrective.

Participate in overall management of the Georgia Center.

Schedule, provide direction and offer feedback on duties and performance of contracted security service.

Participation in special initiatives

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Graduation from an accredited college or university in an appropriate curriculum and considerable experience related to this class of work including some supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES


Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with Center personnel, guests, visitors and vendors.

Ability to accomplish tasks through others.

Knowledge of hotel management, general business and human resource policies and practices.
