Student Affairs Specialist IV Duties
SUMMARY
This is the fourth in a series of four classifications that
represent specialized activities within the Vice President of
Student Affairs. These positions may have university wide
jurisdiction. This job is distinguished from lower level
positions by longevity and meritorious service; exercising
greater autonomy in implementing the job responsibilities. This
classification has fiscal responsibilities that include budget
development as well as supervision of full time, graduate
assistant and student staff.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops a set of goals and objectives for the student affairs
unit in conjunction with the departmental and division missions.
Develops and monitors program budgets.
Develops and implements new or revised programs and their
concomitant goals, objectives and policies.
Performs needed assessments, evaluates and analyzes student
affairs unit's effectiveness; develops recommendations and
initiates appropriate action to ensure their implementation.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Master's degree required, PhD. may be preferred. The only
exceptions to these degrees would be long (10 years) terms of
service in the appropriate field.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of organizational practices.
Skill in organizing and prioritizing work activities.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working
relationships.
Skill in written and verbal communication.
Skill in the use of personal computers and related software.
