Skilled Trades Worker Duties
SUMMARY
This is skilled manual work at the journeyman level in several
of the skilled trades.
An employee in this class has general construction and
maintenance responsibilities for a large facility. Duties
involve performing the actual work, and in some cases,
supervising unskilled or semi-skilled workers in the tasks. Work
is performed under general supervision.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lays out, fabricates, and installs sheetmetal.
Welds and performs related construction tasks.
Repairs and maintains building interiors and exteriors.
Builds wooden structures; does sheeting and rough carpentry.
Paints interiors and exteriors of buildings with a brush, roller
or spray gun.
Performs general grounds keeping duties.
Performs related work as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from a standard vocational or high school and some
experience as a journeyman in one of the applicable trades; or
any equivalent combination of training and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Considerable knowledge of the standard practices, materials,
methods, and equipment of the various trades required.
Skill in using tools and materials required by the applicable
trade.
Ability to work from diagrams, sketches, and oral and written
instructions.
Ability to work effectively with fellow employees.
