Business Manager Duties
SUMMARY
Assists in managing and controlling and is responsible for
coordinating accounting, budgeting, auditing and other financial
or related functions to ensure financial integrity of a unit.
Incumbents also direct or coordinate personnel and operational
matters, but this aspect does not account for a substantial
portion of the job responsibilities. Financial management has
the greatest emphasis and is the overriding, major function.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises personnel admin, training & recruitment;
Assists in preparation of budget; prepares & processes budget
amendments;
Supervises inventory control;
Controls leave records;
Advises faculty & staff on changes in UGA P&P;
Performs duties related to purchasing, personnel records,
personnel actions, payroll & affirmative action;
Develops channels for routing paperwork;
May composes routine correspondence for Dean's signature;
Establishes and revises work methods & procedures;
Develops reports relating to fiscal affairs; develops & changes
business forms;
Prepares performance evaluations;
Coordinates publications & promotional material;
May serve as executive assistant to Dean;
Liaison between Dean's office & departments within school in
matters of fiscal affairs or SOP's;
Meets as directed with individual department heads to discuss
operational problems and explain P&P;
May represent Dean in meetings.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of a Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or a
related discipline with five to seven years of related
experience required; or any equivalent combination of education,
training, and experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of management and supervision practices and techniques
Knowledge of accounting and budgetary theory, principles and
practices
Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations pertaining
to departmental budgets and accounting practices.
Skill in applying accounting and financial management principles
Ability to effectively communicate
