Accounting Technician Duties
SUMMARY
This is second in a series of three non-exempt accounting
classifications.
This position is an entry-level position with no supervisory
responsibilities. This position requires some basic knowledge of
bookkeeping practices and performs repetitive transactions for
daily system maintenance. Work usually involves the use of very
limited interpretation and limited discretion on actions to be
taken on a complete set of minor accounts or a segment of a
larger system.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Posts and balances individual accounts or ledgers.
Prepares deposit transmittals and assists with journal entries.
Codes invoices or vouchers.
Prepares data for further processing or inclusion in financial
reports.
Prepares check requests, travel expense reports, and other
financial forms.
Checks and calculates data.
Prepares basic spreadsheets with financial data.
Performs relates work as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from a standard high school (GED). Some bookkeeping
experience, preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Basic knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles.
Ability to keep records and perform detailed numeric work.
Ability to make arithmetic calculations.
Skill in using calculators and basic knowledge or spreadsheet
