Activities Coordinator Duties
SUMMARY
This is responsible professional work involving the organization
and implementation of various social, cultural, education,
and/or recreational programs and services for a major unit of
the university.
An employee allocated to this class is expected to perform, with
a high degree of autonomy, those tasks necessary to assure the
effectiveness of any program or service within the area of
assignment. Work involves supervision of lower level employees
and liaison with other university units and/or external
businesses or agencies. Work is performed in accordance with
established goals and objectives and is reviewed through the
observation of results.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Plans and implements social, cultural, educational, or
recreational programs or services.
Plans and coordinates the work of subordinates involved in food
preparation and service and custodial and grounds care.
Makes arrangements for social events such as banquets,
receptions, and other special events, including menu preparation
and food service, decorations, seating arrangements,
invitations, etc.
Provides liaison in serving special guests and attending to
special needs of visitors.
Coordinates tours of buildings and grounds.
Maintains appropriate records and files relative to available
resources, programs, expenditures, and other matters involved in
the successful completion of activities.
Provides requisite public relations services relative to
programs and service.
Performs related work as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from an accredited college or university, preferably
in a curriculum involving management and planning of social and
cultural activities, and considerable responsible experience in
planning and implementing cultural, recreational, educational
and/or social programs; or any equivalent combination of
training and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Considerable knowledge of the techniques and methods involved in
planning and implementing social, cultural, educational, and
recreational programs.
Considerable knowledge of available resources within the
organizational unit, the university, and the community.
Ability to plan and organize a variety of programs for groups of
various sizes.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working
relationships with a wide variety of publics.
Ability to speak effectively before large groups of people.
Ability to supervise the work of subordinates. |
