SUMMARY

This is an Information Technology (IT) Leadership position responsible for project
management, resource management, supervision of IT professionals, and
communication of IT services and support. This individual is responsible for IT strategic
and/or tactical planning, implementation and evaluation for a unit, department, college,
or enterprise. Additionally, the individual is responsible for effective communication
among faculty, staff, administration, students and appropriate IT resource providers at
the University. This position is responsible for the identification, selection, and
application of appropriate technology resources to support the unit of responsibility and
the University goals for instruction, research, and public service. Technology services
provided under the leadership of this position meet University standards for design,
security, and delivery. The individual in this position should have some institutional
scope as well as decision-making responsibilities at the unit level.
The work of an IT Manager, IT Senior Manager, Associate Director, or Director
will vary according to the nature of the employing organization and the level
of responsibility associated with the position posting.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Direct, facilitate and/or provide unit development of strategic and tactical planning.

Supervise individuals, teams, units, departments or enterprise.

Develop and manage IT programs and services to support department, college, or enterprise through appropriate blend of local and central IT resources.

Develop and manage budget for technology, services, and personnel.

Provide resources and guidance for the professional development of IT staff.

Create reports and develop or assist in the development and writing of grants or proposals.

Lead and or participate in IT committees, forums or councils supporting the continuous improvement of technology for the university.

Create opportunities for collaboration among IT professionals, faculty, staff, and students for the unit, department, college or enterprise.

Research, design and implement appropriate technology applications to support communication, access to information, improved productivity, and instruction.

Direct highly technical staff to support unit, department, college or enterprise with responsibilities such as systems administration, media services, distance learning, Help Desk, computer labs, networks, wireless networks, web services, application development and classroom technology.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
