Building Services Foreman Duties
SUMMARY
Performs night supervisory work in the custodial care and minor
maintenance work of a number of large buildings and facilities.
Assists in supervising and inspecting the work of several other
employees who are directly supervising custodial and/or
maintenance workers in the cleaning and minor maintenance of
university buildings and fixtures. Position has considerable
latitude in carrying out regular responsibilities subject to
established procedures, practices, and standards. Work is
performed under the direction of a supervisor that reviews the
work through conferences, reports, and clientele satisfaction.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises and inspects activities relating to the care,
cleaning, and minor maintenance of buildings, furniture, and
fixtures.
Plans, coordines, staffs and monitors work activities of
subordinates.
Holds information and training meetings for subordinates.
Prepares and/or maintains personnel and/or payroll documents,
including documentation regarding work performance and
attendance.
Assists subordinate supervisors with personnel problems
involving custodial workers.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED and 3 years experience in building
operations and maintenance work including some supervisory or
lead work experience or any equivalent combination of training
and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Thorough knowledge of the operation and care of equipment,
tools, and supplies related to the care and cleaning of
buildings and facilities.
Thorough knowledge of the methods, techniques, practices,
materials, and supplies used in the care and cleaning of
buildings and fixtures.
Skill in planning, supervising and inspecting the work of
others.
Ability to prepare routine reports and maintain routine records.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Skill in the use and demonstration of appropriate equipments,
tools, and apparatus. |
