Budget Specialist Duties
SUMMARY
This is the fourth in a series of four exempt positions within
the University's Budget Office. This position assists the Budget
Director and Assitant Budget Director with analytical studies
used in formulating budget projections for the University budget
as well as assists both positions in the monitoring of revenue
and expenditures in the budgetary units, with an emphasis on the
University of Georgia B-Units, to ensure that the University
remains within budget projections.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in the coordination and prepartion of the University's
original budget during budget development. This involves
extensive interaction with the Resident Instruction budgetary
units, B-Units, and Public Service Institutes.
Assist the Assistant Budget Director in the research, analysis,
and preparation of a variety of reports.
Assume primary responsibility for continuously reviewing and
proposing changes to the Budget Division's policies and
procedures, as well as documenting all reponsibilities of the
Budget Division for the inclusion in its policies and
procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Budget
Director and Budget Director.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business
Administration or related field and five (5) or more years of
professional accounting experience. Master's degree preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Considerable knowledge of accounting practice and theory.
Ability to prepare financial statements and work independently
to apply accounting practice and theory.
Ability to analyze financial data.
Experience with complex accounting systems.
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships
and communicate effectively.
