Senior Accounting Technician Duties
SUMMARY
This is the third in a series of three non-exempt accounting
classifications.
This position has experience with bookkeeping principles but has
no supervisory responsibilities. This position performs
repetitive transactions for daily system maintence but assists
professional level accountants or business managers with more
complex fiscal functions and issues where account
classifications and procedures are predetermined. Work usually
involves a complete set of minor accounts or a major segment of
a larger system.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs detailed work for preliminary budget preparation,
budget amendments and periodic accounting and budget status
reports.
Prepares billings and supporting schedules.
Compiles data for monthly or annual schedules and reports.
Maintains and balances accounts or a set of accounts and
reconciles to a general ledger.
Prepares journal vouchers.
May prepare payroll data.
May train accounting technicians.
Performs relates work as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from a standard high school (GED) and one (1) to two
(2) years college/technical school coursework in bookkeeping or
accounting OR at least two (2) years progressively responsible
related experiences.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Considerable knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles.
Demonstrated ability to perform accurate numeric calculations.
Considerable knowledge of spreadsheet software and basic
computer systems. |
