Senior Financial Accountant Duties
SUMMARY
This position performs high-level professional level accounting
work and is responsible for the preparation of University
financial statements and reports. This position is reponsible
for the management of a complete set of accounts and reporting
on University-wide accounting systems. This position exercises
considerable judgement in planning, installing, revising, and
maintaining accounting procedures and the preparation of
statements and reports.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Plans, organizes, reviews, and supervises the work of accounting
personnel.
Develops internal systems of reports for evaluation and control
of operations.
Prepares financial and statistical statements or reports.
Analyzes and reviews accounting issues and recommends
improvement.
Makes assessments on accounting policy, internal controls, and
their implementation.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business
Administration or related field and five (5) or more years of
professional accounting experience. Master's degree preferred.
CPA license preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Considerable knowledge of accounting practice and theory.
Ability to prepare financial statements and work independently
to apply accounting practice and theory.
Ability to analyze financial data.
Experience with complex accounting systems.
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships
and communicate effectively.
