SUMMARY

Special project development, administration & program maintenance related to a variety of environmental health & safety compliance issues for the University. Supervises the Environmental Safety Specialist position for Environmental Health, student worker, and temporary worker. This position has full/final responsibility for job actions (e.g., new hires, promotions, demotions, transfers, discipline, terminations), ensuring compliance with safety/health regulations, scheduling/assigning work,
setting goals or job expectations, training, assessing performance, completing formal performance evaluation, and determining salary and salary changes. Activities and decisions are highly complex. Significant independent action and judgment are required subject to University-wide policies.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinates activities related to the Milledge Ave. hazardous materials landfill.

Coordinates the development of Environmental Health and Safety aspects of the University's hazardous chemical procurement & tracking system.

Assists Associate V.P with program development and administration of the University's Biological Safety Program.

Performs program development and management of special projects as assigned by the Associate Vice

President for Environmental Safety.

Manages Environmental Safety Specialist position for Environmental Health.

Prepares reports and maintains records as they relate to assigned work tasks.

Assists the Associate Vice President with budget management and planning.

Controls financial resources (e.g., develops plans for future expenses/revenues and setting priorities for the allocation of funds).
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree and 8 years experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must have the ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquires or complaints.

Must have the ability to write reports.

Must have the ability to make effective presentations on complex topics to top management and public groups.

Must have the ability to communicate technical and complex concepts.

Must have the ability to develop ideas that will result in the creation of new methods, services, programs, and processes.

Driver's License required.
