Automotive Supervisor Duties
SUMMARY
Performs supervisory responsibilities by overseeing skilled
mechanics and workers maintaining automobile and truck vehicles.
Supervises independently and in harmony with the automotive shop
foreman and communicates with the superiors and subordinates.
Schedules and implements the smooth flow of general shop repairs
and preventive maintenance workload for the physical plant and
for other university departments.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Communicates between customers and mechanics to eliminate
inefficiency and comeback repairs.
Estimates repair costs and makes sure that parts or services are
completed in a timely manner.
Ensures that parts inventory matches vehicles in system,
coordinates with parts person, and updates as necessary.
Maintains preventive maintenance records (hard copy and
computer).
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED; 4 years of experience in the trade
which may include an apprenticeship and/or applicable vocational
training including some supervisory or lead work experience in a
modern shop setting as a journeyman automotive mechanic; or any
equivalent combination of training and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to work effectively and communicate with superiors,
subordinates and customers.
Knowledge of current equipment and testers for efficient shop
utilization.
Knowledge of OSHA and MSDS precautions.
Skill in phone communications with suppliers and vendors. |
