SUMMARY

Performs professional landscape architectural work in planning and designing landscape features.
This individual designs and executes working drawings for several projects and coordinates the work of subordinate technical personnel engaged in the preparation of various landscape architectural drawings and plans. Individual coordinates work with on-campus horticultural personnel as necessary.
Work is performed under general direction of an administrative superior and work is reviewed through periodic conferences, planning meetings, and reports submitted.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises or participates in the preparation of schematic, preliminary, and final drawings for remodeling projects.

Prepares and reviews site plans for university properties.

Prepares cost estimates and specifications.

Prepares topographic surveys.

Prepares and maintains base maps, utility maps, and aerial photos.

Coordinates master plans for the development of campus areas.

Provides consultative services to architects and engineers employed on contract by the university.

Performs on site inspections of construction projects.

Maintains liaison with the Office of Campus Planning.

Performs related duties as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in landscape architecture; possession of a license to practice as an architect in the State of Georgia and considerable experience related to this class of work; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Thorough knowledge of the theories, principles, and practices of landscape architecture, including knowledge of plant materials and planting design.

Considerable knowledge of the principles and methods of surveying.

Ability to develop and maintain effective work relationships.

Ability to plan, coordinate, and supervise the work of others.

Considerable skill in the preparation of maps, plans, and specifications.

Knowledge of ornamental plant growth habits, culture and maintenance requirements.
