Snack Bar Supervisor Duties
SUMMARY
This is managerial work in a campus lunchroom or coffee shop.
Work involves responsibility for the management of a campus
snack bar under the direction of the dining hall manager.
Requisitions food and supplies. Closely supervises food service
workers and other employees in the preparation and serving of
sandwiches, soft drinks, and other short order foods.
Responsibilities of this work include the training of food
service workers for the prompt and efficient service to
customers, cleanliness of personnel, and the food service area.
This person is under the general supervision of the dining hall
manager.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages the cafeteria short order lunch and soft drink section.
Requisitions necessary food, soft drinks, and supplies.
Plans work schedules and the assignment of necessary employees
for an efficient operation.
Trains and supervises personnel in the efficient preparation of
sandwiches, short orders, and the serving of the various soft
drinks.
Manages the preparation and storage of the various foods which
are listed on the menu.
Inspects food preparation area for proper cleanliness.
Inspects Food Health Certificates to determine that all
employees possess a valid, up-to-date certificate and that
employees conform to the required health requirements.
May assist the dining hall manager in the management of the
dining hall in his/her absence.
Performs related work as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from a standard high school and considerable
experience in a large short order food service operation
including supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination
of training and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Considerable knowledge of short order food preparation, serving,
and operation of short order lunch program.
Considerable knowledge of health hazards and of effective
precautionary measures.
Ability to supervise subordinate short order staff personnel.
Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relations with
other employees and with those whom you may serve.
Ability to work long hours while standing. Possession of valid
health certificate. |
