SUMMARY

Formulate and define system scope and objectives to develop or modify business applications. Analyze system requirements, and prepare detailed specifications from which programs will be written. Assist programmers with designing, coding, testing, debugging, documenting, and maintaining
application programs.

The work of an Application Analyst will vary according to the nature of the employing organization and the level of responsibility associated with the position posting.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop, program, document, test and perform data analysis of complex software programs and information systems.

Analyze management information requirements for major sections of client business needs; scope is not limited to individual department needs, but to enterprise-wide needs.

Define and implement application systems for computing needs that
reflect client requests.

Plan for and implement controls and test procedures for these large database information systems.

Direct, supervise and coordinate efforts of applications analysts and programmers in planning, designing, testing, documenting and installing information systems.

Assure systems security and control.

Cultivate effective working relationships between IT and client community to maintain ongoing awareness of information needs and uses.

Encourage and enforce data processing standards embraced by hiring operating unit.

Support production application system operation as needed.

Have ability to acquire new technical skills, apply those skills in the development of software solutions, and effectively convey new knowledge to colleagues.

Working knowledge of or proven capability to quickly learn structured programming language(s), database management systems, and other tools to be utilized/supported in the hiring operating unit.

Additional duties as assigned.
