Professional Assistant Duties
SUMMARY
The Instructional Technology Development Professional supports
departments, faculty and/or teaching assistants in the creation
and/or utilization of instructional multimedia, web course
management systems and best teaching practices. Work is
implemented through instructional design and development,
consultation, workshops and seminars for classroom and online
instruction. The individual is skilled in the instructional
design and/or teaching/learning process and with selected
multimedia tools depending on office needs. The overall work of
the professional will vary according to the
needs of the office and the level of the position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Consult on course design and implementation issues incorporating
best practices and theories of curriculum and instruction
Assist and consult in the use of web course management software,
multimedia applications and other programs
Participate in faculty program activities
Act as project manager and/or team leader, facilitating and
participating fully in the process of prototyping and creating
instructional media from inception to finished product on an
established timeline and within a given budget; maintain project
records for annual reports, project billing and other needs as
assigned
Consult on various technical and instructional solutions
Work collaboratively and effectively with internal and external
staff, faculty, administrative clients, and other instructional
development and IT professionals
Produce and edit original media such as for the WWW, CD, DVD,
tape, and other delivery modes, using appropriate development
and editing tools and design criteria; convert a wide variety of
formatted materials
into appropriate digital formats.
Incorporate artistic, innovative, and creative style into all
works
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of new and emerging digital
technologies as well as teaching and learning issues in higher
education
Develop and deliver professional development seminars,
presentations, and demonstrations on teaching and learning,
instructional design, web course development, web management
systems, teaching with technology and multimedia topics
Assist in supporting research regarding development and
implementation of instructional strategies
Provide assistance in the conversion of face-to-face courses to
hybrid or distance courses
Encourage and challenge faculty to deliver their instruction and
content in new ways and demonstrate for the pedagogical
opportunities that technology provides
Performs special projects and other duties as assigned. |
