Telecom Installation Professional
Assistant Duties
SUMMARY
This position is responsible for providing telecommunications
installation and
maintenance support for a UGA Client base that could span all
UGA departments,
Enterprise Information Technology Services (EITS), the Office of
University Architects,
the Real Estate Foundation, and the Physical Plant Division.
Personnel in this position
install, certify, and maintain telecommunications networks that
include telephone, data,
and cable television. This position directly addresses technical
issues at the local level
and acts as a technical liaison for resolving broader issues.
Both technical and
interpersonal skills are essential.
The work of a Telecommunications Installation Professional will
vary according to the
nature of the employing organization and the level of
responsibility associated with the
position posting.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Install, certify, and maintain telecommunications infrastructure
that encompasses
data (wireless and conventional), telephone, and cable
television networks.
Design telecommunications networks in response to the Client's
specific data,
telephone, and cable television service requirements; and
prepare budgetary
estimates and/or quotations for installing the
telecommunications infrastructure.
Project manage telecommunications infrastructure installation
projects to include
labor scheduling, logistics planning and implementation,
convening periodic
progress briefings with the Client, coordinating
telecommunications installation
tasks with other construction trades, and conducting the post
installation
inspection of the completed installation project.
Create documentation for telecommunications infrastructure
installations using
CAD-generated as-built drawings and hard/software copies of
network test
results.
Provide consultation and guidance to Clients concerning the type
of
telecommunications network that would meet their organizational
requirements.
Perform other related duties as assigned. |
