Institutional Research Analyst Duties
SUMMARY
This is advanced professional and technical work in research
related to institutions of higher education.
Work involves participation in research relating to the
operation of the institution, including periodic analyses of
operations reports, analytical or modeling studies, management
information systems, and special studies dealing with a broad
spectrum including students, faculty, curriculum,
administration, non-faculty personnel, and other programs. An
employee allocated to this class of work generally involves
consultation with faculty and all levels of administration.
Participates in research studies, collects and organizes data,
performs analyses, interprets findings, and presents results in
written form. Work is reviewed principally by observation of
results obtained and utility of reports produced.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs complex comparative analytical studies both on intra
and inter-university problems.
Assists in designing research methodologies for designated
studies, collects and organizes data, performs statistical
analyses using computer support where appropriate, interprets
results to management and writes technical reports covering
results.
Identifies and analyzes problem areas related to organization
and management of the institution.
Conducts descriptive studies pertaining to faculty, students,
staff, and the instructional process.
Assists in institutional policy and long range planning studies.
Performs related work as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of college level work equivalent to a master's degree
in Research Methodology, Higher Education, Statistics,
Educational Research or other closely related fields, and
experience in a four year college or university; or any
equivalent combination of training and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of organization, management, and operation of an
institution of higher education.
Thorough knowledge of research design, methodologies, and
statistical analyses.
Considerable knowledge of the form and style of research report
writing and associated skills.
Considerable knowledge of institutional research techniques and
computer applications.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working
relationships with faculty and staff personnel and the general
public.
Ability to evaluate existing techniques and procedures and to
assist in devising new techniques and procedures.
Ability to effectively present and defend research results
orally and in writing. |
