SUMMARY


This is responsible administrative work in the production of instructional media, television film, and other communications media for the university.

An employee allocated to this class of work is responsible for all phases of film or instructional media production. Work involves scheduling of personnel and equipment, researching subject matter, writing and directing and editing communications media. Coordination of many activities and persons is required to direct film production from concept to final print. Supervision is exercised over other technical and non-skilled employees and work is reviewed by results obtained.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises employees and participates in the production of communications media from conception to final print.

Researches subject matter and writes communications media content.

Directs the purchase and repair of equipment.

Coordinates all activities involved in directing films and instructional presentations and works as cinematographer when necessary.

Initiates and develops ideas for all communications media.

Maintains continuous contact with key media representatives.

Writes administrative reports and proposals and related correspondence.

Performs related work as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in an appropriate curriculum and some experience in communications production work; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES


Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices involved in the production of communications media.

Thorough knowledge of the utility and limitations of communications equipment.

Ability to assign and supervise the work of subordinates engaged in the production of various communications media.

Ability to make simple repairs on communication equipment.

Ability to write and edit content for various communications media.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Skill in the operation of various communications equipment.
