Digital Imaging Specialist Duties
SUMMARY
This is skilled work in all phases of commercial type
photography and includes supervisory and advisory
responsibilities. An employee in this class is responsible for
supervising technical support positions, providing consultative
services and performing a variety of photographic assignments.
This employee must coordinate the use of a variety of still and
motion photographic equipment, as well as black and white and
color equipment. Work is performed with considerable
independence.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Advises faculty and staff on photographic services available;
consults with personnel to provide for special needs.
Supervises the purchasing of photographic supplies, chemicals,
and special equipment; maintains inventory control.
Supervises and schedules the activities and assignments of
support personnel; sets work priorities.
Photographs assigned activities of the university in still and
motion pictures in color or in black and white.
Makes photographic reproductions of typed copy, drawings,
photographs, and other materials for the preparation of visual
aides, slides, and transparencies, and for reproduction in
educational and scientific journals.
Processes and prints films; employs special skills such as
microphotography; microfilms newspapers and books.
Performs related work as required.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES
Extensive knowledge of the techniques, equipment, and materials
used in modern photography.
Extensive knowledge of the methods and techniques used in
developing and processing film.
Considerable skill in the use and maintenance of photographic
equipment.
Skill in scheduling photographic assignments so that all
assignments are competed in a timely manner.
Ability to produce good subject composition and arrangement.
Ability to make densitometer measurements and to select color
correction filters.
Ability to take and edit high speed motion pictures of various
events and projects.
Ability to instruct other employees and to establish effective
working relationships
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from an accredited college or university with major
course work in photography, supplemented by considerable
experience in commercial photography; or any equivalent
combination of training and experience.
