Media Producer-Director Duties
SUMMARY
This is responsible, creative work in the preparation and
production of educational television programs.
An employee allocated to this class of work is responsible for
preparing programs, and overseeing the filming and taping prior
to and review after broadcasts. Supervision is exercised over
studio and film crew.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conducts production conferences with subject matter specialist
to determine the course of action to be taken prior to and
during broadcast filming; conducts research on production
topics.
Discusses and selects, with the aid of artist, the various kinds
of art work to be used in programs.
Selects visual materials for program inserts; dubs films and
tapes when filming is in progress; makes slides and prepares and
edits scripts.
Coordinates and directs crew members and technicians during
program production.
Monitors elapsed time and time remaining during telecasts.
Determines which sets are to be used, and then instructs crew
members on their construction and placement.
Performs related work as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from an accredited college or university, with major
course work in television broadcast production; and experience
in television program production; or any equivalent combination
of training and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Considerable knowledge of the methods, materials, and techniques
used in the production of television programs.
Considerable knowledge of the uses, operation, and limitations
of television broadcast equipment.
Ability to think and act quickly and efficiently and to work
effectively as a part of a closely coordinated team.
Ability to translate information and ideas into effective
program content.
