Media Production Supervisor Duties
SUMMARY
This is professional and administrative work in the supervision,
production, and maintenance of all forms of media production and
associated equipment.
Work involves the development of in-house production policies
and procedures, supervision of technical, non-technical, and
skilled media production personnel, evaluating equipment, and
planning for future purchases of media materials. Work is
performed with considerable independence under the general
direction of an administrative superior and is reviewed by
results obtained.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops policies and procedures for instructional media
productions.
Supervises employees and participates in the production of
television, motion picture, slide, sound, and other media
projects from conception to final product.
Supervises the operation of the closed circuit television system
and the audio/video duplication center.
Supervises the cataloging and maintenance of the videotape
library.
Plans and implements training programs for assigned personnel.
Evaluates equipment and plans for future purchases of media
materials.
Researches subject matter and writes media content.
Consults with faculty and staff concerning the best use of media
presentations and equipment.
Writes administrative reports, proposals, and related
correspondence.
Initiates and develops ideas for all communications media.
Performs related work as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from an accredited college or university with major
course work in an appropriate curriculum and considerable
experience in communications production work; or any equivalent
combination of training and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices involved in
the production of communication media.
Thorough knowledge of media equipment and limitations of
communication equipment.
Considerable knowledge of the limitations and attributes of a
closed circuit television distribution system.
Considerable knowledge of the operation, maintenance, and source
of supply of a large variety of audio visual devices and
supplies.
Some knowledge of the basics of budget preparation.
Ability to produce instructional media presentations within an
approved budget.
Ability to assign and supervise the work of subordinates engaged
in the production of various communications media.
Ability to inventory, organize, and schedule communication
production equipment and facilities.
Ability to coordinate, schedule, and operate a multi-channel
distribution system.
Ability to coordinate, schedule, and operate an audio/visual
duplication center.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working
relationships with others.
Skill in the operation of various types of communication
