Radiology Manager Duties
SUMMARY
A person in this position coordinates department activities
including budget development, equipment quality control and
maintenance, inventory and ordering of supplies, and performance
improvement. The employee is also responsible for hiring,
supervising and evaluating radiology staff. Work requires
interactions with UHC administration, clinic and medical staff,
UGA researchers and members of the local medical community.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supports UHC mission, vision, and values.
Plans, directs, and establishes department goals.
Initiates performance improvement.
Demonstrates respect and understanding of differences among
staff and knowledge of human behavior.
Maintains interactive communication with patients and families
and effectively addresses conflict and opportunities for
improvement.
Facilitates the flow of communication within the area and across
the health center, including the UGA campus and medical
community.
Manages operations in a manner, which results in effective
provision of care and/or services.
Manages human resources to achieve the mission and goals of the
department and support the UHC mission.
Provides education opportunities for staff and patients.
Demonstrates an ongoing commitment to professional development.
Demonstrates competence in applicable professional skills and
participates in continuing professional education.
Develops and updates policy and procedures.
Coordinates activities with contract radiologists and, under
their general supervision, ensures national and state
regulations and standards for radiation protection and safety
are met.
Maintains departmental files and records according to state,
federal, HIPAA, JCAHO, UGA and UHC guidelines.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from an accredited radiology program from an
accredited college or university (B. A., preferred) with a
minimum of five (5) years experience as a radiographer with two
(2) years of supervisory experience.
Must be registered through the American Registry of Radiologic
Technologists (ARRT) and certified in Radiology [RT(R)]. JCAHO
accreditation experience, preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Possesses knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
Competent in technical aspects of radiography.
Possesses knowledge of radiation protection and safety.
Possesses general computer knowledge to keep department records. |
