Bindery Operator Duties
SUMMARY
The second in a series of four levels, the employee performs
semi-skilled mechanical work in binding books, reports, and
other materials. Work involves performing hand and machine
operations including the use of letterpresses, punching,
drilling, binding, and stapling machines. The types and
number of machines being operated by the employee separate
this position from the position of Bindery Operator III.
Work is performed under general supervision with assistance
readily available and is reviewed by inspection for accuracy
and established quality standards.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from a vocational or high school and considerable
binding experience preferred. An equivalent combination of
education and experience will be considered.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Considerable knowledge of the tools, equipment, materials,
and practices of book binding.
Considerable knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions
of the binding industry.
Ability to understand follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to keep routine records.
Ability to operate and perform minor repairs on bindery
equipment.
