Director of Publications Duties
SUMMARY
This position manages all aspects of the publications unit
of Public Affairs, including supervision of staff, to
produce the highest quality print publications reflecting
the University's stature as a top-tier research university.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides administrative support to Associate VP - Public
Affairs
Manages staff of nine professionals in Publications Unit,
including daily workflow issues and assignments
Approves and signs all expenditures for Publications Unit
Creates, designs and develops files for publishing
Consults with clients regarding design and publication
projects and with planning committees on Convocation,
Commencement, symposia, and the Delta Prize
Consults on special events, such as inaugurations, Olympics,
Guest Lecturers, 40th Anniversary of Desegregation
Develops and submits yearly budget proposals for a combined
State and Foundation budget
Proofreads publications prior to publishing
Interviews all job candidates, writes and files job
descriptions with HR department, maintains EEO records
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in appropriate area of specialization and
three years of experience in all aspects of publication
work.
