Open Records Manager Duties
SUMMARY
This position provides point-of-contact service for
University of Georgia for the proper management and
execution of Georgia Open Records Act.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Proper execution of the Ga. Open Records Act as stipulated
by Ga. Code 50-18-70, i.e. Open Records Manager.
Supervise student workers in reading, clipping and pasting
of UGA-related newspaper articles for the daily-produced Ga.
Morning news packet which is distributed throughout campus.
Responsible for budget and hiring/firing.
Daily production of an electronic version of the Ga. Morning
paper packet. eGaMorning duties include finding Website
addresses that correspond with actual newspaper articles and
e-mailing them in an electronic packet to some 4,100
subscribers.
Assistant to Assoc. VP for Public Affairs.
Duties range from researching material for the Assoc. VP for
PA, writing news releases, answering media inquiries to
answering office phones.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in appropriate area of specialization and
six years of experience in public relations, writing, and
government policy.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Some background knowledge in public affairs/public
relations.
Some knowledge of the workings of news media.
Writing experience is essential.
