SUMMARY

This is administrative and supervisory work in assisting the center facilities manager in the administration of and educational services center.
Work involves assisting in the administration of the facilities with emphasis on the guest residence area. The employee in this class is required to supervise the work of clerical and custodial subordinates. Work is performed in accordance with standard policies and procedures, but the employee exercised considerable independent judgment over detailed operations. Work is carried out under the general supervision of the manager and is reviewed by conferences and by observation of results obtained.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises day to day operations of center facilities.

Replaces the manager in his absence.

Assists in the operation of dining facilities.

Interviews, recruits and assigns new employees.

Prepares work schedules; conducts periodic checks of building operation.

Maintains statistical and bookkeeping records; assists in preparation of the unit budget and reports of activities.

Supervises the operation of the gift shop and switchboard.

Performs related work as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Graduation from an accredited college or university, with course work in hotel management or an allied field and experience in large scale hotel operations, preferably including some supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Considerable knowledge of conference and hotel management principles and practices.

Some knowledge of the principles and practices of large scale food service operation.

Some knowledge of the principles and practices of business management.

Some knowledge of modern personnel practices.

Ability to supervise the work of service, custodial, and clerical subordinates.

Ability to operate a large scale hotel-type activity.
