Busn Manager Oxford Studies Abroad Duties
SUMMARY
The Business Manager for UGA at Oxford is first and foremost the
chief budget officer for both the Oxford Center and the studies
abroad programs and as such is responsible for keeping track of
expenditures, reconciling all accounts both here and in England,
and anticipating future costs based on fluctuating exchange
rates, enrollment, etc. The person who fills this position must
be familiar with UGA procedures governing agency, state, and
foundation accounts and have some understanding of general
accounting methods and foreign currency exchange.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The person in this position oversees all financial transactions
for both the UGA at Oxford Residential Center in England and for
all the Study Abroad programs administered through the UGA at
Oxford Office on UGA's campus; these programs include, but are
not limited to, Franklin at Oxford, Terry at Oxford, and Grady
at Oxford. As new programs are added, the Business Manager would
oversee the fiscal aspects of these programs as well.
Additionally, this position provides oversight for the financial
transactions of Friends of Oxford. The person in this position
will provide oversight for over twenty accounts, including
UGA-based Program accounts, UGA-based Center accounts, UGA
Foundation accounts, UGA Petty Cash accounts, British Bank
accounts, and British petty cash accounts. This position must
coordinate financial records both with the Business Manager for
the Office of International Affairs and with the Assistant
Director of Oxford Studies Abroad.
The person in this position works with the Director to prepare
budgets for the UGA at Oxford Center and the Oxford Study Abroad
Programs and keeps track of the spending against those accounts.
In addition, the Business Manager will be responsible for
preparing personnel statements and maintaining personnel
records; overseeing purchasing both at UGA and in Oxford;
monitoring exchange rates to facilitate the most economical
transfer of money; providing training related to expenditures in
Oxford for on-site faculty and graduate assistants; preparing
Travel Authorities for Program-related travel and making airline
reservations for the Oxford staff, on-site faculty, and graduate
students taking part in the study abroad programs; and for
answering phones and student questions when other staff members
are not available.
The Business Manager may also be called upon to help with major
event planning, with website maintenance, and with other duties
as needed.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related business
major, or one year of budgeting experience in a private,
non-profit or university environment is required; an MBA or
other graduate business degree is preferred.
Experience with the policies and procedures of the University,
particularly as they relate to budget and personnel; experience
with study abroad programs, financial aid, or University
accounting procedures is preferred.
Knowledge of MS Office, Corel Office, and various University
computing systems; experience and knowledge of spreadsheet and
database software.
Proven accuracy when dealing with numbers and calculations as
well as some familiarity with foreign exchange rates. |
