Training Specialist Duties
SUMMARY
This is responsible professional work in the development,
coordination and maintenance of training programs.
An employee allocated to this class of work is responsible for
assisting in curriculum design, development of master lesson
plans, maintenance of academic records system and development of
audio-visual resources. Work is performed with considerable
independence under the general direction of an administrative
superior and is reviewed through periodic conferences and the
observation of results.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists in the overall development of curriculum plans.
Conducts periodic surveys and meets with individuals to assess
current training needs.
Coordinates with instructional personnel in the development of
lesson plans.
Plans and develops audio-visual resources including slide
presentations, overhead transparencies, video-tape programs and
other instructional media.
Maintains statistical data base to insure that area training
needs are met through programs.
Assists in overall development and evaluation of programs.
Assists in program instructing on a limited basis.
Performs related work as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from an accredited college or university in an
appropriate curriculum and considerable experience related to
this class of work; or any equivalent combination of training
and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Thorough knowledge of training methodology, techniques and
principles.
Considerable knowledge of specialized technical and management
training programs.
Knowledge of research methodology as applied to the field of
training.
Ability to operate a variety of audio-visual material.
Ability to demonstrate, present and teach effectively before
groups.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working
relationships with university officials, state and federal
authorities, civic leaders, news media and other personnel
involved in the instructional process.
