Work Management Supervisor Duties
SUMMARY
Performs technical and supervisory work in the work management
area of physical plant operations. Responsible for determining
the scope and estimating the cost of campus-wide construction
projects, responsible for selection and hiring of design
professionals to provide plans and specifications for Physical
Plant construction projects including negotiating the
Architect/Engineer contract and fee, coordinating the design
process and making fee payments. Also responsible for tracking
the status of construction projects from initial inception
through construction completion, providing the Physical Plant
Director, the client, and other staff with information as to
funding source and status, schedule, design and construction
problems and cost overruns.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises, reviews, and assists in the preparation of cost and
man hour estimates for construction, renovation, and repair
projects including writing material specifications from
designs/drawings.
Determines needs and coordinates outside design projects with
design firms.
Monitors and reports job status including cost overruns, project
duration overruns and unforeseen construction problems.
Functions as the work management liaison between Physical Plant
and university departments.
Maintains building and project files and prepares various
reports.
Performs related work as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree with 6 or more years of related experience
including some supervisory experience; or any equivalent
combination of training and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to supervise a technical unit, effectively direct office
employees and fill in for all section personnel as needed.
Through knowledge of the principles, techniques and practices of
building repair, alteration and construction.
Considerable knowledge of data collection and manpower
scheduling.
Ability to communicate effectively. |
