Bus Operator Duties
SUMMARY
This is semi-skilled work in the operation of buses.
Work involves responsibility for the safe and efficient
operation of vehicular equipment. Work usually involves some
equipment maintenance duties and other semi-skilled work
relating to the equipment and building maintenance activities.
Employees receive definite and detailed instructions from a
supervisor at the time of appointment. Work is performed
according to established procedures with frequent daily
inspections.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Drives buses on regular routes; makes periodic stops to load or
discharge passengers.
Drives trucks in hauling maintenance materials; helps load and
unload trucks; oils, greases, and washes buses, trucks, and
other vehicles.
Performs miscellaneous laboring jobs in connection with building
and equipment maintenance.
Performs related work as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of the eighth school grade and experience in the
operation of bus or truck; or any equivalent combination of
training and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Considerable knowledge of traffic regulations and the care and
safe operation of equipment.
Ability to service motor vehicles and to make minor repairs.
Ability to perform routine tasks and to understand and follow
oral and written instructions.
Ability to obtain a valid state chauffeur's license.
Skill in the operation of buses, trucks, and other vehicles.
